Block 41 Wedding with Colorful Spring Flowers

This breathtaking spring Block 41 wedding editorial will have you swooning! We absolutely love working at Block 41, and were so excited to bring our unique style to this gorgeous venue for a chic black-tie celebration. We were inspired by specialty daffodils, which are some of the first blooms we get here in the PNW after a long winter. We added lots of other stunning botanicals, marble accents, and citrus details. We hope you love seeing these delicate spring blooms and artistic shots as much as we do!

Block 41 Weddings

Block 41 is a stunning wedding venue in Seattle, right in the heart of Belltown. We love Block 41 for its vibrant city setting, modern interiors, and the fact that their team is delightful to work with! It has two huge indoor spaces, as well as a courtyard with one of our favorite murals in the city. We really enjoy the wealth of white space at Block 41, because it allows it to transform into whatever you want. With that in mind, we knew we wanted to use colorful spring wedding florals to turn this space into a chic, black-tie affair. We loved using Block 41's circle arch for this dramatic wedding ceremony floral installation!

Modern, Chic Wedding Ceremony Flowers

To begin, we started with the large circular arch at Block 41. We used a wide array of botanical materials for this wedding floral installation, from garden roses to dried ferns. Of course, we chose all of our favorite spring blooms, too, including daffodils, tulips, poppies, and ranunculus. We loved layering the flowers and ferns, and creating several different focal areas based on color and texture. For example, we chose to go brighter orange on the ends of the arch, with more pastel and neutral tones in the middle. We also loved the contrast with the black chairs, which you can see in the nighttime image (credit to Barbie Hull).

We are absolutely obsessed with how this turned out! We were lucky to have sunshine that day, and the light streaming through the windows created such a dreamy setting for this ceremony. And we love the artistic images with the repeating flowers and hazy surroundings.

Black-Tie Wedding Reception

We also designed florals for the black-tie wedding reception at Block 41, including a gorgeous King's Table for the wedding party. We continued to go for a light and airy feeling, but chose to be a little more bold with our colors here. We used marble accents like chargers and candleholders to elevate the design, and also incorporated bright citrus touches on the tables themselves. Our florals for tables were almost entirely bud vases and small ceramic vessels, grouped together to create a multi-layered look. We considered color, height, dimension, and texture in our groupings, so we used a wide mix of botanicals and vessels to create one-of-a-kind look. We absolutely love the way this came together with rentals from CORT and menus from Blake Design Studio.

The couple's reception also included a glam champagne tower, a balloon arch, a neon sign, and of course, cake! We loved all of it, and were so thrilled with how it turned out. Of course, we enjoyed working with our other vendors to make sure there were florals for both the balloons and the cake table! We also loved the disco balls above their head table - such a fun touch! (Disco balls are definitely having a moment right now.)

Block 41 Wedding Design Details

We loved working on these wedding designs with planner Carly at Emerald Engagements, and all of our fellow vendors! We originally considered an all black-and-white setting, but we wanted to try something a little different by adding some bold citrusy tones. Carly also suggested working with marble accents instead of strictly black or white, and I'm so glad we went in this direction! We also relished in the details of our couple's personal flowers and bouquet. We were really inspired by the citrus Carly and I talked about, but wanted to ensure the florals were not too bright or garish. As a result, we ended up with a sophsticated palette of neutrals, blushes, taupes, and peaches with little pops of orange.

We chose a truly stunning array of botanicals for this unique color palette, using all the best of spring. Delicate blooms like parrot tulips, ranunculus, specialty daffodils, butterfly ranunculus, and poppies made the cut. We also used a wide palette of roses, from buttery yellow garden roses to toffee-colored stunners. And in our floral installation work, we also added dried bracken fern for a wonderfully taupe base, as well as grapefruits, blood oranges, and clementines on the tables. These botanicals matched perfectly with the invitation suite as well. We love this chic, vibrant palette and how uniquely modern it felt at Block 41!

Sunset Wedding Reception at Block 41

We wanted to also share a few images of what the wedding and venue looked like after the sun set. We loved using more bud vases and citrus for these chic cocktail tables with black velvet linens! And of course, it is always fun to see floral installations in different lighting. Thanks to Barbie Hull for these three nighttime images!

Kelley Farm Wedding | Corinna + Conor

Kelley Farm Wedding with Lush Blooms

Somehow, we always get to work with the sweetest couples - and Corinna and Conor are no exception. Since 2019, we worked together to design a dreamy lavender wedding at Kelley Farm for these two. Unfortunately, their wedding date moved three times - through three different seasons! Finally, we were able to design this Kelley Farm wedding in October 2021, and it was so worth the wait. It was such a joy to celebrate with these two and their wonderful families! Filled with gorgeous landscapes, lush blooms, and lots of smiles, the sheer happiness of this day is plain to see.

The Kelley Farm

Kelley Farm lies about an hour south of Seattle, with gorgeous rural scenery. We loved seeing some of their perennial flowers still blooming in the gardens! The stunning pasture also provided a perfect backdrop for photos of Corinna and Conor during their first look. Kelley Farm weddings can be inside or outside, depending on the weather. We got some breaks in the rain for photos, but also had a mega storm roll in! Ultimately, Corinna and Conor decided to hold the wedding indoors. Definitely the right call! On the inside of Kelley Farm, we love the rustic wood interior, the romantic curtains, and the opulent chandeliers. Additionally, we enjoyed creating a floral installation on the permanent arch at Kelley Farm. It is the perfect size for their space! Our couple also loved having separate cottages to get ready.

Preparing for the Ceremony

These two both had fabulous squads helping them get ready. The bride's side and the groom's side had separate spaces at Kelley Farm. However, the whole mood of both groups was so jubilant! Everyone was thrilled to be together celebrating these two. To begin, we delivered anenome boutonnieres to Conor and his groomsmen. We also brought cute bridesmaids bouquets to the girls, and flower petals to the flower girl. (Isn't she the cutest!?) We also gave Corinna her stunning cascading bouquet, which added so much glamour and drama to her bridal look. Of course, we made sure to give her lots of anenomes - her favorite - as well as a sophisticated mix of mauve and lavender flowers. We finished all of these pieces with hand-dyed silk ribbons from our local artisans.

First Look

Before the ceremony, Corinna and Conor had a first look on the grounds of Kelley Farm. First looks are a great way to have a private, intimate moment to reconnect with your spouse before the big celebration! First looks are always touching moments, but we can't get over how happy these two make each other. We feel genuinely lucky to work with couples who adore each other!

Kelley Farm Wedding Ceremony

After regrouping with their wedding party, Corinna and Conor made a stunning entrance to their ceremony. We lined the aisle with white rose petals, and added a romantic floral installation to the Kelley Farm wedding arch. We used greenery to soften the shape and mirror the curtain behind it. Additionally, we covered the right corner in a stunning mix of big lavender blooms, anenomes, and grey-green foliage. We love the way this ceremony setup came together!

Romantic Fall Wedding Reception

Throughout the planning process, the one thing that stayed constant was Corinna's desire to have a big dance party! Thankfully, all of their friends and family were on board with that plan. From all accounts, everyone had a great time! We used the floral arch as a backdrop for the reception, setting up Corinna and Conor's sweetheart table in front of it. For their table, we added extra florals, greenery, and candles to make it extra special. We also decorated their cake table with florals and greenery, and worked with the bakers to make sure some flowers made it onto the cake, too!

Kelley Farm Wedding Design Details

We loved crafting this floral palette in a moody mix of mauve, lavender, and white flowers. We used the best of what was seasonally available, including anenomes, carrot flowers, several types of roses, and stock. In addition, we added some interesting textured greenery, like the near-black agonis foliage that almost looks like fringe. You can also see this in Conor's boutonniere and Corinna's bouquet below. I particularly love the little mauve spray roses we included in these pieces! Believe it or not, they were an impulse buy at the flower market. But when I saw them, I knew we had to have them!

Fall Wedding Tips

First, fall is a super popular time to get married here in Seattle, and elsewhere in the country. So if you are planning a fall wedding, make sure you book your vendors early! That way, you will have plenty of time to make decisions, rather than scrambling to find someone.

Of course, you will also want to account for the weather. Sometimes we luck out and have gorgeous sunshine. Other times, it storms and the power goes out! (True story!) So, make sure you have rain plans in place. We always recommend hiring a wedding planner for this reason.

Lastly, we highly recommend being flexible about your flower choices in the fall. Since we prioritize local flowers, we are at the mercy of the last frost. Often, this frost happens in mid-October. We sometimes find ourselves with an abundance of "summer" flowers one week, and almost nothing local the next! So, hire a pro who can roll with the punches and make your wedding flawless no matter what.

Winter Destination Wedding at Mountain Springs Lodge

From the moment I met with Pacifica, I knew this destination wedding would be absolute perfection. This winter wedding at Mountain Springs Lodge had it all - drama, glamour, and sweet, intimate moments. Pacifica was inspired by the snowy landscape, the towering mountains, and creating a refined and elegant experience for her intimate wedding. Of course, we leaned into all of the luxurious details to ensure that this romantic destination wedding would be unforgettable.

Mountain Springs Lodge

Mountain Springs Lodge sits in a valley just outside of Leavenworth, WA in the Cascades. We love the way the landscape transforms across the seasons. In winter, the lodge receives a generous blanket of snow, allowing them to offer sleigh rides, cross-country skiing, and more. (You'll see why this detail matters later!) Naturally, it was a wonderful choice of venue for a destination wedding!

Romantic Winter Wedding Ceremony

To begin, Pacifica and Evan chose to hold their ceremony outside to embrace the incredible views of the mountains. The wedding ceremony took place just outside of Mountain Springs Lodge, next to their large fountain. We installed a lush floral wedding arch for the ceremony, complete with blooms and evergreen foliage. In addition, we lined the aisles with evergreen garland, all framing the view of the mountains perfectly. Amazingly, the lovely couple even got sunshine while reading their vows - perfection!

Of course, one of my favorite parts of this winter wedding was the handfasting ceremony. This ancient tradition is where “tying the knot” comes from! In this instance, we used luxurious hand-dyed silk ribbons from Silk & Willow for this handfasting ceremony. Pacifica and I were both obsessed with the one-of-a-kind blue botanical print ribbon, made with flower petals. You can see this stunning design in the second and third photos, as well as in her bridal bouquet.

After the ceremony, Pacifica and Evan had the perfect "just-married" smiles! Obviously, we love seeing how happy couples look right after their ceremony! Pacifica and Evan also made a particularly glamorous exit on a horse-drawn sleigh. Mountain Springs Lodge offers sleigh rides in the winter, which these two took full advantage of. I don't think we've ever seen a wedding exit quite so glamorous!

Elegant Winter Wedding Reception

Mountain Springs Lodge has a stunning rustic wood interior, which we transformed into an elegant, romantic experience for their guests through floral and event design. With event design, we help couples think through all of the aesthetics of their events. We source linens, place settings, and other rentals to create a cohesive design like this. Of course, for this wedding, no detail went unnoticed! From luxe velvet table linens to gorgeous wedding centerpieces, we ensured that Pacifica and Evan’s destination wedding would have an elegant and refined look throughout.

Destination Wedding Design Details

Pacifica and Evan asked us to do both floral and event design for this destination wedding, which we loved! For this winter wedding, Pacifica knew she wanted to incorporate evergreens and anemones in her designs, with a pop of blue. We used white flowers like anenomes, ranunculus, roses, and stock for all of our florals. Additionally, we incorporated touches of silver brunia, touches of blue delphinium, and lots of Pacific Northwest evergreens. And for her bouquet, we used the same stunning hand-dyed botanical silk ribbon that was used in the handfasting ceremony. Personally, I am obsessed with her hairpiece - I would wear this every day if I could! We also have to note here that both Pacifica and Evan have amazing hair and style!!

In addition, we designed all the details of the wedding reception to create elegant, romantic tablescapes. We used navy velvet linens and gauzy white table runners as a base for these lush floral arrangements. Then, we also added romantic taper candles on antique silver bases. Along with candles, we used several rentals from CORT Party Rentals for the place settings, including silver beaded chargers, silver-rimmed glasses, and chic silverware. Lastly, we added green velvet napkins, floral touches, and the gorgeous menus and customized name cards to every plate. We love the way the overall look came together!

Destination Wedding Tips

First, if you are planning a destination wedding, make sure you visit your venue before booking! You will want to be able to envision your wedding day. Plus, it’s a great excuse for a long weekend away.

Of course, destination weddings are also more logistically challenging for your vendors. Make sure you choose vendors who love to travel, and are willing to do so. It’s also a great idea to have a wedding planner who can help with all the moving pieces.

Lastly, we highly recommend that you stay at your destination for several days before the wedding! You don’t want to worry about jet lag, travel times, or other logistics right before your wedding day. Instead, arrive early enough to enjoy your destination for a few days and unwind before the big day.

The rainy season in Seattle has officially begun! However, we firmly believe there is no bad time to get married in this beautiful city. We already shared some of our favorite outdoor wedding venues in Seattle for the dry summer months. But of course, Seattle is famous for being a rainy city most of the year. Today, we wanted to share some of our favorite indoor wedding venues in Seattle. We work with wedding venues all the time, and we absolutely love working with other wedding pros here in the PNW. Seattle has hundreds of gorgeous wedding venues, so you have plenty of options to choose from! But these favorites all have stunning indoor spaces that allow you to celebrate any time of year, with no rain plan necessary. These venues highlight the best of Seattle's architecture, history, and unique sense of place.

City Chic: Block 41 in Downtown Seattle

Block 41 offers the perfect chic indoor wedding venue for city dwellers. Located right in the heart of Belltown, this historic building offers exposed brickwork, wooden beams, and a modern, industrial vibe. The building actually served as a wagon depot for ice delivery before refrigeration! Today, its expansive spaces can hold up to 720 (!!!) wedding guests. It is also extremely convenient to downtown Seattle hotels, restaurants, and nightlife for your out-of-town guests. We love that there are so many spaces within this one venue. The upstairs and downstairs spaces can be used for your ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception in creative ways. The whole building has a ton of natural light, and Block 41 also has an iconic "Seattle" mural outside in their courtyard that is perfect for photos! We love working in this venue, because it provides so much gorgeous blank canvas for us to transform it into something truly memorable.

Historic Luxury: The Rainier Club in Downtown Seattle

The Rainier Club provides a luxurious indoor wedding venue in the heart of downtown Seattle. This unique space sits in one of Seattle's oldest buildings, designed in 1904 and beautifully preserved as a historic landmark. Throughout the club, you can find art deco motifs, historic works of art, and luxurious furnishings that add to the ambiance. We love that they have a variety of spaces available for weddings, each with its own intricate, curated decor. Think gold-leafed molded ceilings, crystal chandeliers, and 100-year-old woodwork. Every pocket of this venue is so stunning! If you are hoping for a luxurious, historical venue with lots of Seattle charm, look no further.

Intimate Comfort: Olympic Rooftop Pavilion

We just worked here last weekend, when we had torrential rain, flooding, and high winds. Despite that insane weather, The Olympic Rooftop Pavilion was cozy and welcoming the whole time. This intimate indoor wedding venue boasts a gigantic skylight and floor-to-ceiling windows, which makes it feel like you are outdoors. The outdoor patio opens to beautiful views of the city, the Olympic mountain range, and all the docked boats and marinas in Ballard. When we had moments of sunlight, guests eagerly went outside to look out over the city and see this unique rooftop view. We also love that this venue is in the heart of Ballard, a cute neighborhood in North Seattle with some of the best restaurants, bars, and shops in the city. Just outside the door, you can find a great bar to keep the party going, or get a late-night bite to eat. It is also attached to the Hotel Ballard, a boutique hotel that offers you and your guests a place to stay without traveling. We love the ease, comfort, and intimacy of this indoor wedding venue!

A Killer View: Columbia Tower Club

I won't lie - installing this floral backdrop gave us some vertigo! Welcome to the Columbia Tower Club - a modern indoor wedding venue that provides sweeping views of the city, Elliott Bay, and the 75 floors below it. Yes, that's right - this indoor wedding venue sits on the top two floors of the tallest skyscraper in Seattle. (It also happens to be the tallest skyscraper in Washington, and the fourth-tallest on the West Coast!) Centrally located in the heart of downtown, the Columbia Tower Club provides an exclusive but modern retreat for any couple looking for a unique venue. With in-house catering, proximity to downtown hotels and activities, and two floors of space, you get the perfect mix of convenience and "wow" factor. I mean, just look at this view! We could not tear our eyes away during this daytime setup, and it was just as pretty to see the city lights at night.

Rustic PNW Elegance: The Willows Lodge

Our region has plenty of rustic indoor wedding venues, but some can be quite a hike from Seattle proper. Enter the Willows Lodge, which can host up to 180 people indoors in one of its spaces. The lodge itself is located in Woodinville, which has lots of wineries, trails, and other activities for your friends and family to enjoy. For couples looking for an indoor space that feels outdoors, their gazebo space offers massive windows, natural light, and heaters. It feels quite cozy, even in the winter months! The lodge also offers a ballroom in the main building, which has all the rustic charm of a remote PNW lodge. We also love how their beautiful gardens provide the perfect setting any time of year, especially for stunning photos. Finally, we love that they offer spa and hotel packages for wedding couples, so that you can relax and pamper yourselves leading up to the big day.

Hotel Wedding Venue: Woodmark Hotel & Still Spa

For a larger indoor wedding venue, we love the Woodmark Hotel & Still Spa. Located in Kirkland about 45 minutes from Seattle, the hotel sits on Lake Washington with a view of the Olympic mountains. They offer a wide variety of indoor spaces with waterfront views, even in the winter. The Woodmark Hotel provides an all-inclusive approach for couples who want a gorgeous wedding, without a lot of fuss. With in-house catering, rooms for you and your guests, and a spa so you can treat yourself, you'll have everything you need right onsite!

Hotel Wedding Venue: Bell Harbor International Conference Center

For big weddings, we would also recommend the Bell Harbor International Conference Center. We know this sounds like a corporate place, but they secretly host some of the city's most gorgeous wedding venues! From rooftop and pier spaces in the summer, to grand indoor ballrooms for winter, you can find the perfect space here any time of year. Located on Seattle's downtown waterfront, they provide beautiful views of Elliott Bay, whether you are indoors or out. This venue works best for bigger weddings, as the spaces themselves are huge. As a point of reference, their most intimate room can host 110 people! But we love how many options they have for couples, no matter the size of your wedding. We also love that they are steps away from the heart of the city and have some seriously amazing natural light.
